Port forwarding bug

Post by avandda »

Hi,

We have a supplier who provide us with managed DSL on Billion 7800n routers. As the service is managed, we have no access to the routers.

We access telephone systems via a single TCP port (Locked down to our public facing IP address). All has been working perfectly well until we changed our public IP address and requested that our new IP address be inputted into the firewall settings for that port.

Now we cannot connect to any of our telephone PBX's. We have been assured that all requested settings have been applied but we still have no connection. It has to be something on the Billion!

Any ideas are much appreciated!

You could try pinging the new Ip address and port if pinging is allowed and maybe the old address as well to see if it is still using that. Then if you did get a reply back you know it must be something outside of the router causing the issue.

The other thing you can do is ask the people who manage your Billion router to send you some sort of proof the port forwarding is set up and working. E.g. screenshot, ping results etc.
