Try settings the SNR to 1 this should bring your SNR downstream value to 6db and to the standard BT recommended setting.

This is very strange

Ok so it seems the SNR tweak is not working on your line.

The next test will be to see if you can force the device to sync with ADSL2 or ADSL 2+

Untick ADSL2, G.DMT and Annex M and leave only ADSL2+ ticked, and click on 'Apply' and see if the router syncs up and see what the throughput is like after 10-15 minutes.

If it fails try ADSL2 only

If this fails you can always return your device for a new one and see if the same issue occurs.

BT have been on site recently and installed a new faceplate and have checked all the wiring also. My IP profile is now set 7.15mnps
I have re-connected my BT HUB 3 and have done some Speed test results below

BT HUB 3
Time 16:34
Download Speed = 7.14mbps
Upload Speed = 0.17mbps
Ping Latency = 100.75ms

Time 16:54
Download Speed = 7.16mbps
Upload Speed = 0.18mbps
Ping Latency = 92.25ms

When the BT Hub is connected performance is stable even after 15-20 mins. But when I re-connect my Billion the performance just after a few mins is just not acceptable.

Billion 7800DXL
Time 16:58
Download Speed = 7.09mbps
Upload Speed = 0.33mbps
Ping Latency = 45.88ms

Time 17:07
Download Speed = 2.05mbps
Upload Speed = 0.26mbps
Ping Latency = 426.50ms

Why would there be so much of a difference between the BT HUB and Billion and connection speed and Ping latency.
Your first speedtest with the Billion was spot on , unfortunately with the BT service you have the speeds attainable from one hour to the next can be very highly variable due to congestion which starts to kick in around 5pm.

I'd suggest leaving the Billion connected and run speedtests at differing times & I think that you'll see that congestion is the real problem. That really is the only explanation for 2 tests 9 minutes apart being so very different.

May be worth ensuring you are wired into the router in both cases rather than using wireless.
That would eliminate any issues with differing wireless channels and setup between the two routers.

The rate of 8128 448 (Kbps) indicates the line is ADSL/G.DMT only which will also probably explain why the SNR changes have no effect.

Hi,

I have tired just with ADSL2 ticked only and then with ADSL2+ ticked only. On both times the broadband would not connect.

It only seems to connect at ADSL_G.DMT as tinytim pointed out also.

Do i need to speak with BT or is there anything else i can do.

What confuse's me is with the BT HUB 3 i get the correct download speeds and performances is overall good. I thought by getting this Billion I would get the performance i used to get with the BT HUB 3 plus also resolve the issue which i have with BT HUB 3 as it would stop working after a few. The latter has definitely been resolved by using the Billion, its just the overall speed issue.

I have now returned by Billion back as it doesn't support the ADSL line I am on.
BT have no plans to upgrade my exchange to 21CN. Therefore going back to BT HUB 3.

Those who are planning to buy a billion make sure your exchange is on 21CN. before forking out the cash.

Everyone thank you for the help you have given to me.

Hi. My telephone exchange I am connected to is not 21CN ready and there is no indication of that being changed any time soon.
I am in process of switching my ISP (from BTW to TTB) and after reading many reviews I decided to purchase a new router. Originally I was going to get 7800N but since 7800DX should be as his new "brother" (considering newer broadcom chipset and so on) I'd opt for 7800DX.
Before I proceed to purchase the router could someone confirm the above? As much as I do not believe that the router would not work outside of 21CN network I just would like to be sure.
Thank you
Best
