DLNA not working

Post by dmpfran »

I am trying to get the DLNA function on my new 7800DXL to work. I have attached a NTFS formatted external hard drive and enabled the DLNA server function. My three DLNA clients (television, phone and tablet) can list the video files, but fail when trying to play them (on my Sony bravia I get the message 'playback not available'). The same drive when accessed as a windows shared drive by a DLNA server (serviio) running on my desktop works perfectly. The desktop DNLA server does no conversion (transcode etc) and the file is played directly to the DLNA client.

The video files are of the following format as described my ffmeg -i

Duration: 00:27:42.94, start: 0.287267, bitrate: 5284 kb/s
Stream #0.0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg2video (Main), yuv420p, 720x576 [PAR 16:15 DAR 4:3], 9800 kb/s, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc
Stream #0.1[0x80]: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 192 kb/s

I have the latest firmware and I have tried disabling the power management functionality.

The 7800 seems to create info files for each video and example is below:-

david@home-desktop:/media/FreeAgent/Films$ cat mulan_2*info
mediaFile=/mnt/usb1_1/Films/mulan_2.mpg
contentLength=1720934400
containerType=4
duration=4513440
bitRate=3050328
vidPid=224
videoCodec=2
videoWidth=720
videoHeight=576
videoBitrate=3828000
videoFrameRate=25.000
audPid=32957
audioCodec=7
audioBitsPerSample=16
audioSampleRate=48000
audioNumChannels=2
audioBitRate=192000
pcrPid=0
tts=0
psiValid=1

Has anyone managed to get the DLNA functionality to work ?.
