No IPv6 on the LAN

Post by Edtech »

Hi!

I have a problem with IPv6. My computers on the LAN don't have public IPv6, just LAN loopbak IPv6. I try with Windows 8 and Ubuntu 12.10. The 7800DXL have a correct IPv6 and the LAN take automatically an IP in the IPv6 pool gived by my ISP. The IPv6 DNS are correctly obtains by the router. But the computers on the LAN don't have IPv6 or DNS... I don't understand why. I try with and without DHCPv6.

Here, my configuration :

Have you tried to enable router advertisements??

Also once you enable DHCPv6 server have you tried to enter the following address 2001:41d0:fde0::d8d/56

On our setup in the UK our WAN ends with ::/56 and when we setup the DHCP server this address ends with ::/64, so the setup seems different.

The IPv6 gived my ISP is 2001:41d0:fc86:ae00::/56 and I had never understund why the main IPv6 address is 2001:41d0:fde0::d8d/64.

I enabled router advertisements and now I have :
Suffixe DNS propre à la connexion. . . : Harmonia
Adresse IPv6. . . . . . . . . . . . . .: 2001:41d0:fc86:ae00:1bc:390e:401b:407e
Adresse IPv6 temporaire . . . . . . . .: 2001:41d0:fc86:ae00:6435:bda9:db42:6206
Adresse IPv6. . . . . . . . . . . . . .: fd2c:ba8b:a956:0:1bc:390e:401b:407e
Adresse IPv6 temporaire . . . . . . . .: fd2c:ba8b:a956:0:6435:bda9:db42:6206
Adresse IPv6 de liaison locale. . . . .: fe80::1bc:390e:401b:407e%12
Adresse IPv4. . . . . . . . . . . . . .: 192.168.1.100
Masque de sous-réseau. . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Passerelle par défaut. . . . . . . . . : fe80::204:edff:feef:4321%12
192.168.1.254
But the DNS are still missing. I kwnow my ISP have a problem with my IPv6 connection (I can't ping the IPv6 Internet) but the DNS must be detected by my OS, no ?

Have you tried to set static IPv6 DNS serves to your PC??

Yes, I try it, but I don't undestrand why it isn't detected automatically. And in all cases, I can't ping an IPv6 on INternet from the LAN. Perhaps I must set a link between the LAN and the WAN (static route ?) ?
