Synology DS CAM port forwarding

Post by mognog »

I know this is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone has managed to get the Synology DS CAM app working on their mobile phone using port forwarding in their router.

If you aren't familiar with DS CAM it basically allows you to watch a live feed from your CCTV cameras and also view any event recordings.

Anyway getting it working seemed simple enough:

1) Install the app on your phone.
2) Set port forwarding (TCP) in your router for http 5000 and https 5001 (see ports link below). This is from the internal Synology NAS IP address to the external IP address.
3) login to DS CAM using your external IP address and port 5000

It just hangs for me. I don't think this is a router specific issue but in case you were wondering I'm using the Billion BiPAC 8900ax-2400.
I don't think I need to alter anything on the NAS its self.

DS cam 5000, 5001 (HTTPS) TCP
DS file
Android devices:
- DS file 4.x and a DiskStation running DSM 4.3 and later: 5000, 5001 (HTTPS)
- DS file version prior to 4.0 or a DiskStation running DSM 4.2 or earlier: 5005, 5006 (HTTPS)
TCP
iOS devices:
- DS file 5.x and a DiskStation running DSM 4.3 and later: 5000, 5001 (HTTPS)
- DS file version prior to 4.0 or a DiskStation running DSM 4.2 or earlier: 5005, 5006 (HTTPS)
Windows Phone: 5000, 5001 (HTTPS)

Any ideas / previous experience welcome.

Can you post a screen shot of your virtual server setup page ??
Also what IP address is your Synology device on??
Have you checked the gateway address on the Synology device to ensure it points to the routers IP address??

Problem solved. My fault. I was fiddling about (on a different post) trying to get a one box solution and I have 2 Wan interface set ups. I'd put the port forwarding on the setup I want to use but currently isn't working. I've now put it on my Ethernet wan version and all is working great.
