Bethere and 7700N

Post by MrFlibble »

Hi all,
has anybody got a setup guide for the 7700n and Bethere / O2? Just got this combo and not having any luck getting them working together. Spotted the guides for other routers but they do not translate to the 7700N that well.

Cheers

Hi,

I will try and provide help here. I have a 7800N so note there may be a field or two listed below that you might not have, such as Profile Port, as the 7800N can be used for both ADSL and Cable services.

Try using the following settings when adding a WAN profile in advanced interface.
  • Profile Port: ADSL
  • Protocol: MPoA (RFC1483, Multiprotocol Encapsulation over AAL5)
  • Description: [Anything You Want]
  • VPI: 0
  • VCI: 101
  • Encap. Method: LLC/SNAP-BRIDGING
  • NAT: Enabled
  • MAC Spoofing: [Leave Blank] (ONLY USE IF ISP RESTRICTS TO MAC ADDRESS OF ROUTER THEY PROVIDE)
  • IP: 0.0.0.0 [Dynamic IP] (ONLY ENTER IP IF STATIC IP IS PROVIDED BY ISP)
  • Netmask: [Leave Blank] (ONLY ENTER IP IF STATIC IP IS PROVIDED BY ISP)
  • Gateway: [Leave Blank] (ONLY ENTER IP IF STATIC IP IS PROVIDED BY ISP)
  • Obtain DNS: [USER CHOICE] (Enable Obtaining DNS from ISP, or use Be Primary: 87.194.0.51 Be Secondary: 87.194.0.52 or Google Primary: 8.8.8.8 Google Secondary: 8.8.4.4)
Please let me know if this helps you out.
Best Regards,
Andrew Robinson.

Apologies for not getting back last night.

Tried the settings that copy across from the first reply but no luck. It fails on the authenticate with isp part (from memory). The adsl light is green, but internet light just flashes.

I will have another go tonight and grab some screen shots, typing this at work on the mobile memory is a bit fried.

My IP is dynamic.

Cheers

MrFlibble I would suggest using the quick start CD that came with the device.

It should work without issues.

I set up mine last night and had problems manually setting it up and using the CD. In the end after I was starting to get annoyed; I read somewhere switching the 7700n off and on and then running the CD again would fix it, and it worked. Hope this helps someone. I am now getting an extra 1mb download and 0.2mb upload over my old Linksys router with DDWRT.
