If you consider that it's affordable and justifiable, you could check out other providers to see what sort of a deal you could get for Fibre - BT tend to be in the upper price bracket.

The last section in this article explains SRA but your ISP has to support it as well. http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/adsl_technology.htm

Thanks. Don't think BT support this. Is the 8800AXL a good upgrade over the ageing 7800N? My sync speed keeps dropping from about 1800 to 1000 every few days needing a reset. I heard the 8900 series was coming soon. Should I wait for this? Are there any other long line routers you can recommend?

I've parked my (2011) 7800N up for the time being as I find I get a better sync speed with my TalkTalk D-Link 3780 but I don't think it will be the 7800N that's dropping.

When your speed drops, have you checked the Downstream SNRM to see if that has increased, as with a max speed of 1800 you must be a fair distance away from the exchange and it could be BT's DLM that's correcting to stabilise the connection.

If you still have BT's Home Hub, compare the connection with that and if it still drops then contact BT and report an unstable connection.

I don't have any info on the 8800AXL or any of Billion's other products.
