Problems connecting to the routers 192.168.1.254 page

Just got a new 8800axl recently, it's set to the latest firmware 2.32e

Everything is working well now but I cannot connect to the routers settings at all (192.168.1.254)- unless I reset the router, then it works for about 30 minutes (wired via Ethernet and wireless)
Then it inexplicably becomes unavailable and will not connect and the only way to get it to work is to reset the router - and it works for a short time before the same thing happens yadda yadda

Is this a hardware fault? Or a firmware bug?

A simple reply stating this would be appreciated instead of ignoring the issue tbh

I'm unfamiliar with the AXL model, but going by the title of your enquiry, you're trying to connect to the router with the address 182.168.1.254. Unless Billion has assigned different LAN IP addresses on AXL models to those that it normally does (which I would think unlikely), you should surely be connecting with the address 192.168.1.254, shouldn't you?

Normally, the router's LAN IP address is shown on the underside of the router, so have a look there and check.

Clearly, if you're trying to connect to the router with the wrong IP address, it won't respond and its GUI won't be available to you. Consequently, the router will run instead with the last collection of settings entered into it before you acquired it, and these may not be optimum for you. Indeed, if that's the case I'd be surprised if you could even get the router to connect to the Internet, since the very least you'd need to do within the router's user interface is to set up your ISP login name and password for the DSL connection.

If I'm barking up the wrong tree here and the 182 is merely a momentary typing mistake in your enquiry then please ignore this advice. Otherwise, check for the correct IP, enter "http://192.168.1.254" into the address field of your browser and press Return. You should then see a router login caption, where normally you need to enter "admin" and "admin" the first time around. That will then get you into the router's GUI (graphical user interface, ie. the browser presentation of the router's internal settings) and from that point on you'll be able to configure the router to your particular requirements. Included in that will be an option for you to set your own specific router login password (a change of that second "admin" to something of your own choosing). You may or may not need to specifically log out of the router, to return to normal Web browsing (the need to log out seems to vary from Billion model to model).

I understand what you are saying but I don't think you have read my post I CAN connect to the router's 182.168.1.254 admin page, get through the username/password etc

But after about 10-20 minutes something happens and I can no longer access it - only a reset allows me to access it again (briefly like before)

What firmware version are you running??

Try loading the firmware found on the attached link

Once upgraded, make sure you reset the unit back to factory default settings and manually reconfigure the device again from scratch.

Do not restore settings from previous firmware builds
