Anybody else using the 7800n experience problems accessing google and google search results?
I've just installed a 7800n to replace the crappy belkin supplied by my ISP, only to find that Google search would timeout 9 times out of 10, as would access to google itself. Only apparent using Chrome, and only accessing Google sites.
After 2 hours of swearing, I stumbled upon the Chrome flag "Experimental QUIC protocol" - disabling this has eliminated the problem. My 7800n is on the latest firmware, so no point looking there, just wondered if anybody else has experienced the same problem, and if it's fixable. I don't consider disabling the feature on every device in the house to be a fix.

Ahh... No, PPPoE through the EWAN port - my broadband is a fixed wireless setup. ADSL here is so poor and unreliable that I no longer have a land line to the property.willieaames wrote:are you connected through ADSL mode with your isp?

It is a strange one, as I haven't seen anyone experiencing similar issues when using Google Chromeheyho74 wrote:Ahh... No, PPPoE through the EWAN port - my broadband is a fixed wireless setup. Well, if it can't be resolved I'll just have to sell it on. Can anybody recommend anything similar to the 7800n that would do a good job? Just needs gigabit ethernet and solid wireless really...

Have you tried to change the DNS server on the router to google DNS server (attached is some screen shot examples for a ADSL/EWAN connection)heyho74 wrote:Well, if it can't be resolved I'll just have to sell it on. Thanks for posting the pictures.
I have definitely cleared the browser cache, and I'm 90% sure that the DNS servers were set correctly, although I will try this again at the weekend just in case.
As stated, switching off the QUIC protocol in chrome flags eliminates the problem, but is not a fix.

If you plug up your old Belkin router does the same issue occur??heyho74 wrote:Thanks for posting the pictures.

From looking on the internet lots of others chrome users have experienced the same issue, as this is a experimental protocol, issues may occur, the only fix is to disable this feature.

Yes, with the Belkin router reconnected there is no problem at all.
Even more intriguing is this:

Check the very last comment - very recent and exactly the same problem I have.

Let me check with our engineers to see if they can suggest anything, (as the 7800N was discontinued a while back, support might be limited)heyho74 wrote:Yes, with the Belkin router reconnected there is no problem at all.
