Strange error in system log and intermittent PPP drops

Post by nettech99 »

A few days ago I noticed the following event in the log of my 8800NL R2, should I be concerned?

Feb 15 19:44:58 kern warn kernel: upnp/10325: potentially unexpected fatal signal 11.

For a while previously the PPP session would drop and reconnect intermittently, the VDSL did not go down - this would sometimes happen a few times a day, sometimes there would be a gap of several days. The ISP saw nothing wrong. I factory defaulted the router and reconfigured manually. The PPP outages stopped. However the PPP session dropped at 16:40 on Feb 15 i.e. a few hours before the above kernel events. There were two more drops yesterday evening so perhaps the issue is starting again. Could the two issues be related?

Running the latest firmware 2.52.d15.

The issue above it related to upnp, so should not effect the PPP connection, normally a PPP drop is a issue with the ISP and should be investigated by them

Ok thanks for the reply. The fact that the issue disappeared after a factory default would logically suggest that the router is to blame, but let's see what happens this time if the drops continue. Regardless, the wifi on this unit is poor and the VDSL connects at a slower rate than other routers so I will probably replace it in due course.
