8800NL Erratic behaviour on latest FW

Post by maxed68 »

I’m sure I’m not the only person who has seen this behaviour.
There seems to be an interaction between a wan port dropping .
The port then seems to go unconfigured status.
Also local Wi-Fi dropping and the GUI becoming unresponsive.
GUI and Wi-Fi should remain up regardless of the wan port status.
This is similar to the previous code version rebooting the router after a wan drop.

I have been using the new firmware on the 8800AXL R2 for 5 days (I know you are using the 8800NL)
I don't usually use the WAN (ethernet) port and have not had any issues over the 5 days

I did have the unresponsive GUI issue several firmware versions back and found that "turning off" all logging "fixed" that issue.

Also, before the latest firmware upgrade I did have occasion to use the Ethernet WAN port for a few days (VDSL was down)
And after going back to VDSL I had an issue with the WiFi dropping every few hours (probaly more related to throughput than time) and not accepting any reconnections until a reboot.
Having removed the Ethernet WAN port from the WAN services (just VDSL & 3G/4G LTE left in) the WiFi dropping issue stopped.

My belief is that there may be a resource issue that is causing problems with the GUI &/or WiFi.
But that's not confirmed.

What firmware version are you on?

That's useful info, thanks.
Will try turning off logging

Never seen this before (router locking up after a DSL drop)

Only time I have seen the status of the DSL port change to Unconfigured is when there is no DSL sync, (or attempting to resync)

Need to look at the system log, as the gui becomes unresponsive a syslog server will have to be setup, and kept on until the issue occurs, so we can capture the logs before the issue occurs.

syslog capture guide attached
